Dr. Jakki Opollo

Vice President of Nursing Talent Acquisition and Strategy - Atrium Health, Founder and President of Lovebound International Corporation

Dr. Jakki Opollo, PhD, RN, MSN, MPH, NEA-BC is the System Vice President of Nursing Talent Acquisition and Strategy at Atrium Health in Charlotte North Carolina.  In this role she is responsible for leading, advising and collaborating with key stakeholders on strategies to recruit, retain, engage and grow more than 10,000 nurses in the Atrium System. Prior to this appointment Dr. Opollo served as the Director of Professional Practice & Nursing Research at Parkland Health & Hospital System in Dallas, Texas. She is also the Founder and President of Lovebound International Corporation, a non-profit organization registered in Dallas, Texas seeking to advance health, education and development goals in Kenya and beyond. Originally from Kenya, Dr. Opollo is highly respected for elevating nursing practice and professional excellence in nursing globally. With nearly 20 years of nursing experience, Dr. Opollo brings a vast experience in nursing and healthcare including critical care, research, academia, leadership, policy, administration, and a deep commitment to global health issues. She currently holds faculty appointments at Baylor Louise Herrington School of Nursing and the University of Texas at Arlington College of Nursing and Health Innovations.

Dr. Opollo holds a Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Nursing from the University of Texas at Arlington and a Master of Public Health degree from the University of North Texas Health Sciences Center.  She is certified as an Advanced Nurse Executive by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and is a member of several professional organizations including the American Organization of Nurse Leaders and the Society for Human Resources Management.  She has been the recipient of numerous nursing excellence awards and honors, has published several articles in peer reviewed journals and presented locally, nationally and internationally.
